About PureGameStats

A project tracking live PC and Steam data - player counts, prices, wishlists, review scores, pre-launch momentum, and more - built without ads, paywalls, or user tracking.

What the site does

PureGameStats pulls together the numbers that describe a PC game's health at any moment: how many people are playing right now, how the price has moved across major retailers, how fast the game is gaining followers, what the reviews say, and which upcoming titles are showing early signs of a launch spike or even going viral.

Nothing here is scraped for its own sake. Every table, chart, and score exists because it answers a real question - "is this game worth buying now?", "is this game about to blow up?", "am I paying a fair price?". Finding all this information can be tricky and time consuming.

Where the data comes from

How the numbers are calculated

Sales estimates

Sales figures on the Top Sellers and game pages are derived from a calibrated model and real developer reporting.

Different game archetypes use different bands to help with accuracy.

Wishlist estimates

For games with a public Steam wishlist ranking we calculate an estimate based on numerous Steam data factors.

Potential Hits momentum

The Potential Hits page ranks unreleased and just-released games by a momentum score taking into accounr many different factiors in the data pool, including Search to catch virality that the other signals miss.

What we don't do

Who runs it

PureGameStats is built and maintained by me, Paul Younger. I have worked in the videogame industry for 30 years in editorial, sales, and business development. This project started as a hobby project after being made redundant in 2025 and I wanted to track player drop-off during Diablo 4 Seasons. It spiralled from there to what it is today and I am continually tweaking the site and how it calculates things for accuracy.

If you find the site useful and want to help keep it going, donations are welcome. Sharing the site with other PC gamers or developers helps just as much.
