FROM NAMELESS SOLDIER TO MILITARY COMMANDER

Rise of the General is a single-player, narrative-driven strategy RPG set in Warring States China, beginning in 246 BCE. Create your character, choose your background and state, and join the military as an ordinary recruit.

Your career begins with illustrated story scenes, character-building choices, turn-based 5v5 battles, and one-on-one duels. You follow orders, train alongside other recruits, and face your first campaign. Earning command brings new responsibilities, from keeping a small group alive to deciding where an army should fight.

BUILD THE SOLDIER YOU BECOME

Make choices during conversations, training, marches, and battles. Your abilities affect your chances of success, while your decisions shape your personality, relationships, and opportunities.

Develop six core attributes—Martial, Warfare, Vigor, Command, Presence, and Insight—alongside specialized skills and weapon experience. Track your equipment, traits, reputation, and military service as your character grows.

Life in the ranks also means learning who you can trust. Shared hardships can build friendships or deepen rivalries, and your conduct affects how soldiers and officers respond to you.

FIGHT TURN-BASED BATTLES AND DUELS

Control your own fighter alongside allied soldiers in turn-based 5v5 combat. Choose light or heavy attacks, use weapon-specific abilities, switch stances, and decide when to recover stamina.

Deployment lets you prepare your group before certain encounters. Once fighting begins, morale, turn order, injuries, and the condition of nearby allies all matter. Your objective may be to break the enemy, hold a position, or survive until help arrives.

One-on-one battlefield duels focus on two fighters. A separate combat system tests your stamina management, stance, and weapon use, with opportunities to dodge, block, and parry.

GROW INTO COMMAND

The full game is being built around rank changing the decisions you make. Small-unit leadership develops into responsibility for larger formations, subordinate officers, and entire fronts.

Discover capable soldiers, develop trusted subordinates, and decide whom to rely on when you cannot oversee every part of a battle. Planned high-command systems put scouts, messengers, and battlefield reports at the center of your decisions. Information may arrive late or prove wrong, and a commander on another flank may need help before you understand the full situation.

At the strategy table, your abilities, reputation, and relationships will influence whether senior officers accept your suggestions. Greater authority brings control over deployments, reinforcements, and reserves—and responsibility for the consequences.

SERVE YOUR STATE IN A CHANGING WORLD

Choose from Qin, Zhao, Wei, Han, Chu, Yan, and Qi. Build your military career within your chosen state’s armies and hierarchy.

The planned full-game campaign expands beyond the authored opening into a world map with travel, military assignments, and an advancing calendar. States will pursue wars and alliances while you train, recover, or serve on another front. Historical figures and original commanders will help shape campaigns that can diverge from history.

Permanent player death is also part of the full-game design. Reaching the highest ranks depends on surviving the career that leads there.
