The Smoke is a 2D Metroidvania-style game that will teleport the players into a universe of alchemy, magic, mystery, and straight-up shooting fun.

• The game is currently still in production, but our goal is to create an immersive world for the player to get lost in. We are gathering all the magical stones we can find, and talking to all the great dragons for their advice. And treating each NPC with the utmost care.

In a magical world, a brave adventurer made a mistake and released a dangerous smoke into the world. The smoke covered the entire world and threatened to wipe out all life. The adventurer tried all the magic he knew but nothing worked. There was only one thing that made the smoke dissipate. It was a bomb made by the genius alchemist Kenda. 

The adventurer visited Kenda to ask him for his help. Kenda didn’t have a choice but to make a weapon. The weapon was designed to battle the smoke, each blast primed with science and alchemy know-how. 

Kenda now ventures into the realm where the smoke was born. 

Kenda is a genius alchemist, who has invented several key designs that made the world a better place. He lost his eyesight in an explosion but that was not enough to stop him from becoming a better alchemist. He used his knowledge to make a special visor that granted him sight that exceeded that of a normal human. 

Kenda will need to travel deep into the cave where the smoke was released. Only then can he find the source and stop it from spreading. But through its interactions with humans, the smoke has gained the ability to communicate. What will Kenda find in the caves? 

And will he be able to save the world?

The Smoke follows Kenda as he tries to save the world. He will jump, dash and shoot through each obstacle. But this universe is bigger than him. To save the world you need more than a single man. These are the other main characters in the story.

This game and all its intricacies were made by me. I am a solo developer who started making games in 2023. The Smoke will be my 3rd official game.

My original background is a poet and author. I have written several books. Poetry as well as short stories. These stories and poems would range from extremely emotional to just straight up horror. I started my drawing journey about 5 years ago. I started drawing because I wanted to make a children’s book but found that the price of illustrators was a bit too steep for my taste. So I decided to just learn how to draw myself. 

That journey took me to make over 12 children’s books and 3 manga’s. A wide collection of practice images and drawers full of papers with scribbles on them. This beautiful path of drawing has now brought me to a place where I want to bring my stories to life in a different way.

Seeing as how I’m a new game developer I am still lacking a lot of knowledge and skills when it comes to making a fully functional game. I’m getting better everyday. And once we are ready, we would love some Beta testers.
