GRIEFS SURFACE is a high-performance standalone desktop application for creating physically based rendering (PBR) materials from images. Designed for 3D environment artists, game developers, and digital artists, it provides a GPU-accelerated workflow for generating, editing, and exporting production-ready texture maps from a single interface.

Built natively in Rust with WGPU, SURFACE is designed for responsive editing, real-time previews, and high-resolution texture workflows up to 8K.

Core Features

• Instant PBR Material Generation
Generate complete PBR material sets including Albedo, Normal, Height, Ambient Occlusion, Roughness, and Metallic maps in milliseconds. Fine-tune every map with deep adjustable controls.

• Height-Based Material Blending
Blend multiple materials using generated height information to create layered surfaces and natural transitions directly inside the application.

• Perspective Correction & Texture Extraction
Extract seamless textures from photographs using polygon-based selection with automatic perspective, skew correction and more.

  • GPU-Accelerated Filter Stack
Apply stylized filters including Kuwahara, Pixel Art, Halftone, Crosshatch, and Cel shading with real-time feedback.

• Integrated AI Upscaling
Increase the resolution of source textures using an integrated Real-ESRGAN runtime with no external tools or command-line setup required.

Production Workflow

• Real-Time Material Preview
Preview materials in an interactive rasterized viewport while adjusting maps and material properties.

• Channel Packing
Pack Ambient Occlusion, Roughness, and Metallic maps into a single ORM texture for modern game engine workflows.

• Atlas Packing: Automatically generate efficient PBR Texture Atlases from your defined materials.

• Production Format Support
Import and export common texture formats including PNG, TGA, DDS, HDR, and OpenEXR.

• Non-Destructive Editing
Preserve source images while storing edits separately, with full undo and redo support throughout your project.

  AND MUCH MORE

SURFACE is built for artists who need a fast, focused workflow for creating high-quality PBR materials without relying on multiple applications.
