RUST MOON is a cyberpunk pixel side-scrolling action game. Play as ALPHA-7, whose memory has been rewritten, and cut through blockades with firearms, blades, and cyberware abilities โ from the neon city all the way to a lunar base. Someone wrote your past for you. What comes next is up to you.
They rewrote your memory. What you do next is on you.
In this city, even staying in reality costs money.
Neon billboards promise happiness forever. Anyone who falls behind on the rent gets shipped off to a dream pod. Machines hold the peace, and the people the system can't hold are left to scrape a living from its cracks.
You are ALPHA-7. The memories in your head refuse to line up, and the military-grade chip in your body ties them to a personality suppression zone. Tear it out and what little past you have left may burn with it. You have to chase the clues, and stay alive long enough to reach the other end of them.
RUST MOON is a cyberpunk pixel side-scrolling action game that fuses gunplay, blades, and cyberware abilities. Break through the blockades, rebuild your body, talk to the people you meet along the way, and follow the trail from the neon city all the way to a lunar base โ piecing together the truth about yourself as you go.
Guns open the way. Blades take over up close.
The enemy across the room is still shooting; the one at arm's length is already on top of you. Keep firing? Switch weapons? Dash in and close the gap? Every clash comes down to how you read distance, position, and timing.
Answer firefights with a rifle, meet close threats with a shotgun, or draw a blade and take the fight into knife range. Chain dashes, slides, and blocks to find your own rhythm between moving and hitting back. Let one well-timed dodge become the opening move of your next attack.
Turn cyberware into a way of fighting.
Your body can be rebuilt, and your tactics change with it. Slot in cyberware and chips to bring something more than guns and blades onto the battlefield.
Steal a window of action with time abilities, flip the timing of an encounter with optical camouflage, or bring support drones and floating blades into the fight. Build your loadout by feel โ mix firepower, mobility, and support until you find the answer that fits the situation in front of you.
Facing heavy hitters, find the crack you can slip through.
Tanks, mechs, and other dangerous opponents blocking your path put everything you've prepared for combat to the test. Read their moves, adjust your ground, and look for the counter-shot while you weather the pressure.
Face them with weapons you already trust, or swap to a different cyberware build and try again. Take everything you've learned on the way โ movement, defense, offense โ into the moments that need it most.
Through the neon city, out to the distant moon.
From bars and clubs in the city, to cold industrial complexes, and on to the space elevator, orbital stations, and a base on the moon โ follow the trail into every corner of this world.
Neon signage, steel framework, and the glow of machinery in the pixel art make up a backdrop that keeps shifting as you travel. When the gunfire dies down, stop for a moment. See how people live here โ and what they've given up to keep on living.
Some people call you ALPHA-7. Others call you "Little Deer".
Off the missions and out of the firefights, you'll run into familiar faces at the bar, engineers who patch up cyberware, and people each carrying a past of their own. Listen to them. Notice the name they use for you, a moment of hesitation, a joke that lands a little too casually.
The stories this city leaves behind hide in unremarkable records too: an overdue notice, a recording a mother left for her child, an operations manual written in ice-cold language. Piece the fragments together and the world you see becomes more concrete โ and harder to take at face value.
Memory isn't evidence. Especially yours.
A stretch of old footage that flickers back to life. A recollection cut short. An identity someone wrote into you. When the clues point to pasts that contradict each other, how do you understand this "ALPHA-7" they call you?
Keep moving with the questions. Push through the next blockade, finish the next record, hear out the next voice.
Someone wrote your past for you. What you do next is on you.
