The inns of Jinhua charge far more than Ning Caichen can afford. The young scholar, traveling to take his examinations, has little choice but to seek shelter in a ruined temple north of the city.

As night deepens, a young woman named Nie Xiaoqian appears at his door. An unexplained gold ingot, a string of strange events in the temple, and a past she hesitates to reveal turn his stay into a matter of life and death.

Nie Xiaoqian is a supernatural visual novel set in ancient China. Experience the story from Ning Caichen's perspective through narrative, dialogue and pivotal decisions, in a tale of trust, promises, and the choice to stay or leave.

From a Moonlit Temple to the Lights of Home

Befriend the swordsman Yan Chixia, hear Xiaoqian's story, and face the dangers hidden in the night. As the story moves from the ruined temple to life back home, the characters' relationships gradually change through their time together. Ning Caichen must live up to his promises, while Xiaoqian has wishes and choices of her own. How they respond to one another's trust will shape where they ultimately belong.
