Learn Go. Play Go. Grow with Your Companions.

Go (Baduk / Weiqi) is one of the oldest strategy games in the world, but learning it doesn't have to be intimidating.

Companion Baduk is a Go learning and training game built around a simple idea: learning Go should be fun, approachable, and rewarding.

Play against a growing cast of unique AI companions, solve puzzles, study joseki, explore traditional Go proverbs, and review your games with a custom-built analysis AI that explains what happened on the board.

Whether you're placing your first stone or working toward your next rank, Companion Baduk gives you the tools to learn at your own pace.

Meet Your Companions

You're not just playing against a computer. You're playing against a whole community of Go companions.

Each companion has their own personality, backstory, playing strength, and approach to the game. Some are gentle teachers, while others are challenging opponents who will push you to improve.

• Play against a growing roster of unique AI companions.

• Discover their personalities, backgrounds, and relationships.

• Challenge opponents across different skill levels.

As you improve, you'll encounter new challenges and develop your own story alongside your companions.

Play Go Your Way

Jump straight into a match with automatically configured settings, or customize your experience with different board sizes, rules, and opponent strengths.

Four core game modes offer different ways to experience Go:

• Normal - Traditional Go with an even-game opening.

• Chinese - Play with the classic Chinese opening arrangement.

• Handicap - Use handicap stones to challenge stronger opponents.

• Sunjang - Explore a historical Korean variation of Go.

Challenge Mode introduces additional variations and unexpected situations to test your adaptability.

Understand Your Games with Custom AI Analysis

Winning is exciting, but understanding why you won or lost is how you improve.

Companion Baduk includes a custom-built Go analysis AI designed to make game reviews easier to understand.

Rather than relying entirely on complicated evaluation numbers, the analysis system examines moves and provides descriptions of what happened throughout the game.

• Move-by-move explanations - Understand the purpose and consequences of moves.

• Game analysis - Review how the game developed and which decisions mattered.

• Clear evaluations - Get a better understanding of which player is ahead and why.

• Learning-focused feedback - Identify mistakes, opportunities, and important strategic ideas.

The goal isn't just to tell you which move was best. It's to help you understand the reasoning behind it.

Explore the Go Proverb Database

Go has centuries of accumulated strategic wisdom, much of it preserved through traditional proverbs.
