A place to live. A province to change.

A rented room in a crowded city. A farm beyond the walls. A respected place in an institution, or enough influence to challenge those who rule.

MORHVAL is an old-school, first-person fantasy sandbox RPG about making a life in Ravenglaire. Take contracts to afford better equipment, develop your abilities through practice, and pursue ambitions of your own. Buy a home, build a faction career, or work toward command and provincial rule.

Six origins. Different beginnings.

Choose from six origins spanning Ravenglaire’s cultures and social classes: a western farming household, a rented room in Valecroft, the wealth or poverty of Crow’s Port, and Vyleish communities among terraces and cliffs.

Your origin establishes your circumstances and gives your early journeys a purpose. Your priorities can change as you discover new places, professions, and institutions.

Explore different ways of life.

Travel through the western countryside, the cities of the Northeast, and the Vyleish settlements of the Southeast. Discover local institutions, find useful services, and decide which places are worth returning to.

Beyond the settlements, take contracts into dangerous dungeons and fight for what you came to retrieve. Seek information about dragons when you are ready for a different kind of quarry.

Low-poly, PS1-inspired visuals give Ravenglaire a deliberately old-school identity—from city streets to cliffside communities and underground spaces.

Become better at what you do.

Improve the skills you use. Fight with weapons, practice magic, and develop practical abilities through smithing, alchemy, farming, cooking, and fishing.

Earn better equipment and work on your gear. Find magical instruction, learn spells, and—with sufficient standing and knowledge, combine available effects through spell formulation.

Your abilities matter beyond combat: organizations have their own admission requirements, so what you practice can shape the opportunities open to you.

Join a faction. Earn a position.

Pursue military service, scholarship, criminal work, religious commitment, or political allegiance. Meet an organization’s requirements, take on assignments, and build your standing.

Membership brings commitments. Your culture, abilities, and existing allegiances can affect admission, while rivalries can close off other paths. Depending on the faction, progression opens institutional services, recruits, expeditions, and command.

Take command. Challenge the Crown.

Reach the highest rank in a territorial faction to lead campaigns on tactical battleboards. Direct units in battles separate from your character’s first-person combat, secure territorial objectives, and work toward control of the province.

The capital cannot be assaulted until the required territories are secured. The final assault is a coup against the Crown, with consequences for your allegiance. Royal Guard progression offers a separate route to provincial authority while royal rule remains in place.

Decide how the province is governed.

Taking power opens decisions beyond the battlefield. Set policies across the province, adjust them for a territory, or make exceptions for individual towns and settlements.

Govern under regimes with different priorities, from Ironwatch’s security and control to Blackroad’s pursuit of profit. Policies affect order, crime, stability, and income, and maintaining them draws on your funds.

The consequences reach beyond the treasury. Some measures change where people live and whether they remain free. Extreme orders can permanently alter populations and leave most people outside the responsible faction refusing conversation and trade.

Own something worth returning to.

Your ambitions can stay closer to home. Buy property, work a farm, invest in a business, and use banking services to manage your earnings. A home can be the goal; a business can help finance a more expensive ambition.

Ride between destinations on horseback, attach a wagon to haul goods, or seek regional alternatives such as Rhelks and mana-powered transports.

Residents follow daily routines, while territorial and political systems develop as days pass. Local conditions affect services and opportunities, and your choices can leave lasting consequences in the places you visit.

Build a life in Ravenglaire, and decide how far you want that life to reach.
