Some Games Are Built So You Can Never Walk Away

Loss Limit is an Adult Romance Visual Novel set inside a breakout sports-betting startup at the worst possible moment: three weeks after a VIP player—an ordinary husband and father—lost everything and took his own life. You play Knox Mercer, the quiet operator behind Vantage's "in-play" microbetting engine, personalization model, and VIP host program—systems designed to keep people tapping long after they should stop.

With an IPO, a marquee launch weekend, lawsuits, and a state investigation closing in, Knox is forced to choose what he'll protect: the machine he built, or the people it broke—while three dangerous relationships ignite around the same dead man's file.

Each route offers a different kind of romance under pressure: a hostile reunion with the regulator who can end his career, an intimate closeness with the ex-wife who needs the truth, and a forbidden affair with the partner who can bury him.

Meet the Cast

Nora Keane — The Ex-Wife
Nora is Danny Keane's ex-wife and the mother of his six-year-old daughter—an exhausted, fierce single mom who left Danny to save their child, then lost him anyway. She comes to Knox for answers no settlement can buy: what "limited" really meant, what the app did at two in the morning, and whether leaving pushed Danny over the edge. She should hate Knox—and she tries—but he's the only person who can tell her the full truth, and the only one who can share a grief that doesn't end at the courthouse door.

Helena Cross — The Regulator
Helena is senior enforcement counsel for the state gaming commission, leading the investigation that could pull Vantage's license and make Danny's death official on the record. She's also Knox's past: the woman he was with fifteen years ago, before the app and the money, who left when she saw what he was becoming. Sharp, principled, and dangerously funny when she's winning, Helena forces Knox to face not only what he built—but the version of himself she never stopped measuring him against.

Margot Renn — The Trader
Margot is Vantage's Head of Trading: the one who sets limits, sees patterns early, and understands exactly how the machine makes its money. She built the book alongside Knox from the beginning—and now her logs can prove who killed the safeguard that should've stopped Danny Keane. Flat, brilliant, and unbribable, she's the closest thing Knox has to an equal… and the most forbidden person he could reach for when the company starts rewriting the truth.

Key Features

• Single-choice branching romance: Early on, choose whose door Knox walks through—then follow a complete, character-driven route shaped by that decision.

• A modern noir corporate thriller backdrop: IPO roadshows, discovery deadlines, suitability investigations, and launch war-rooms—where every conversation has stakes and every document can ruin someone.

• Three distinct romance dynamics: Hostile Reunion (adversarial chemistry + old history), Bereaved-Adjacent Confidant (shared grief + moral barrier), and Forbidden Attraction (work + witness risk).

• A grounded, adult emotional tone: Guilt, complicity, grief, and desire collide—without easy absolution.

• Themes with teeth: "Responsible gaming" as theater, "in-play" as addiction design, and the central question of whether anyone can ever truly cash out.

• Adult content: Each romance route includes explicit adult scenes.
