In the kingdom of Lucerna, guilt can be decided by trial by combat.

The accused is given a weapon, and the Crown sends you to fight them. Whoever survives is considered to be in the right.

You have never lost.

The problem is that most people who make it as far as the arena are innocent. The guilty usually confess long before a trial by combat is needed.

Then a prince starts reading cases the court stopped asking questions about.

Then another case reaches the bench.

This time, your name is on it.

IRON VERDICT is a dark turn-based RPG about law, guilt, and a knight beginning to question the system he has enforced for years.

Combat is turn-based, but you can react when enemies attack.

Parry at the right moment to avoid damage and counterattack. Stronger attacks may give you less time to react.

Dodge gives you more time to react and also works against attacks that cannot be parried, but you will not counterattack.

Miss either one and you take 150% damage.

Some enemies attack several times in a row, with a separate timing window for each hit. If you get the timing right, you can parry the whole sequence and counter each attack.

The rest of combat works like a traditional turn-based RPG. You choose skills, manage resources, build your party, and plan your turns normally.

Limit abilities also use timed inputs.

When the gauge is full, using a Limit starts a short input sequence tied to the attack.

Get the timing right and the attack becomes more powerful. Miss it and you will get less out of the move.

If timed inputs are not your thing, you can switch to Classic Turns at any time.

Classic Turns removes all QTEs from combat. You attack, guard, heal, and use skills normally, with damage dealt and received at its standard value. There are no timing bonuses or penalties.

Timing-based counters are removed as well, but counterattacks learned as character skills, such as Riposte, still work normally.

Everything else stays the same.

Same enemies, same battles, same story.

You can switch between Active and Classic Turns whenever you want.

Not every enemy dies when you defeat them.

If someone survives the fight, you decide what happens next.

Execute them and take the full reward.

Hand them over to the law and receive only half.

Some of the people you spare may show up again later, and what you chose to do can matter when they do.

What you do becomes part of your record.

Every party member has their own abilities and their own skill path.

As you travel together, you can build your relationships with them and unlock unique Duo Attacks.

When the shared gauge is full, two characters can perform a special attack together. Each pair has its own attack, and it becomes stronger as their relationship grows.

Strange creatures have started appearing across Lucerna.

They do not appear at random. Each one leads back to a case where the court may have been wrong.

For six hundred years, Lucerna has lived under a legal system its people believe cannot be wrong.

You have spent years proving it right.
