Hollow Orbits 4X combines best of 4x genre has to offer with board game inspired gameplay and mechanics. Players must expand their empire in a proceduraly generated galaxy where each system is a hex map with a star in the center. Scouts must discover ahead so you can carefully plan your fleet movements.

Plan your shots

Roll a die for every cannon, missile launcher, or laser in your fleet. Dice can miss, hit, or trigger special effects — but the roll is only half the decision. You choose which enemy ships to target with each result.

Fleet formation matters. Ships in the backline are protected until the front lanes are engaged, unless you use long-range Precise weapons to bypass the formation.

Nobody Waits Their Turn

Both players plan at the same time, then watch their orders unfold together.

Fleets that collide on the same hex fight it out. Fog of war cuts both ways — you might be watching an empty system while an enemy fleet is massing just beyond your sight.

Build the Ship, Not the Tech Level

Any module fits any slot. Design a template and build it into anything from a Scout to a Titan. Create glass cannons packed with missiles, armoured tanks, missile boats, or long-range artillery.

Plating, shields, and reinforced hull all compete for the same slots. Weapons that gut capital ships can be useless against light screens. There is no perfect build — only a bet on what you expect to face.

Choose your research path carefully. Specialisation is cheap. Dabbling gets expensive.

Explore a procedurally generated galaxy of star systems connected by warp lanes. Enter a system and watch it unfold into a hex grid.

Send your scouts ahead to reveal the terrain, discover valuable worlds, and spot enemy fleets before your main force enters the system. Information is an advantage — and arriving blind can be costly.

The richest worlds lie deep within the galaxy, but reaching them means reading the terrain and taking risks.

Asteroid belts and debris reward whoever arrives first. Ion storms slow movement and disable shields. Gravity wells pull ships inward. Wormholes can throw you across the galaxy without revealing their destination.
