When scoring resolves, your effective coverage becomes your Tactical Score—and the score gap translates directly into hull damage against your opponent's mech. Every turn demands trade-offs: claim more ground, restrict your opponent's options, or save resources for the turns ahead.

Plan Every Protocol Placement

Protocols aren't traditional cards with damage, defense, or buff values—each one has a unique shape, grid footprint, energy cost, and deployment effect. The same Protocol can swing a battle or waste a turn depending on its orientation, placement, and relationship to your front line. Deckbuilding is no longer just comparing stats; it's about deciding where the next tile goes, which route to sever, and whether a short-term advantage is worth spending resources you'll need later.

Navigate Branching Runs

Choose your path through procedurally generated branching maps, encountering standard battles, elite fights, shops, rest sites, supply caches, and random events on your way to a chapter boss. Safe routes provide steady accumulation; high-risk nodes offer build-defining rewards. Every choice reshapes which Protocols, Components, and Supplies become available downstream.

Build Your Combat System

Acquire new Protocols throughout your run. Remove, modify, or fuse existing ones at shops, rest sites, and events. Combine Protocols with mech abilities, Component effects, and consumables to assemble a combat system tailored to the resources you've found this run. Commit to rapid low-cost chains, or lean into energy stacking, heavyweight Protocols, area denial, or defensive layering—there's no fixed answer, only the build that emerges from the run itself.

Master Every Mech and Run

Different mechs come with distinct abilities and starting Protocol affinities. The same Protocol pool can branch into entirely different strategies depending on which Components you equip. Push through blockaded zones under limited hull integrity and resources, adapt your deck on the fly, assess the risk, and take down the boss. Completing runs progressively unlocks new Protocol pools, Component slots, and build options—letting you explore even stronger, more distinctive tactical combinations.

Setting

A near-future world dominated by megacorporations. In the race to militarize, corporations pushed automation hard enough to replace both laborers and soldiers — technology that demanded vast energy reserves and rare materials. The scramble for resources escalated into a corporate energy war, with mechs as its main instrument. Years after the fighting ended, military technology was repurposed for civilian production. But automation didn't make workers any safer — it only made them easier for corporations to replace and control. The war redrew corporate power, while the cost was still paid by the people who worked the line. In the sectors and city margins left behind, mutual-aid networks have taken root — the foundation workers now rely on to survive, uncover the truth, and resist.

You play a freelance technician scraping by across the city's lower sectors, repairing industrial equipment for a living. He once believed technology could change lives for the better — not realizing the corporations were quietly using automation to build up their arsenals. When the energy war broke out, he was conscripted to the front lines to support communications and electronic warfare. After the ceasefire, he was discharged along with a wave of other wartime personnel. Following an accident in his home sector, he was flagged for "recovery." He escaped the lockdown and began tracing the incident back to its source — and started asking a harder question: who really controls this technology, and who is it actually serving?
