The Haunting Game is a co-operative social deduction party game where you meet objectives, interact with other players and the board, and try to figure out who is your friend and who isn't. No two runs are the same. Shop items are randomized, positions are unique, and special events trigger responding to specific player input. As of this beta, you play as one of two roles: villager or stalker.

Villagers

As a villager on this vast board, you need to collect objective stars scattered around the map. Along the way, you can interact with board spaces that have different special properties - teleport you to a new location, grant you a star to spend in the shop, roll an extra dice, trigger objectives, and much more. But you're not alone in this game. Although you can't see any other players on the board, you can hear hurried footsteps when someone chooses their "sprint" option, you can use proximity chat to yell to nearby players in the dark, or use items like a map or a rope. Be careful who you bring closer though, you never know who you're calling to.

Stalkers

Stalkers walk the board as well. With increased dice rolling and a greater vision, stalkers hunt down and eliminate as many players as they can while not blowing their cover. Choose between convincing villagers of your good-nature and accuse others at the town hall, or go on a murderous rampage across the board with your own custom shop items. The more villager hearts you claim the better items you can buy. Storekeepers have a special stash for you in the back of their store with items the villagers aren't supposed to know exist.

The Board

Many spaces on the board have unique properties to them. Letting you collect resources, pick up items, roll again, take shortcuts and more! While as a villager, your star will be somewhere on the board, sometimes it's worth going to long way around from some extra goodies that can tip the game in your favor.

Town Hall

Stalkers can't just go around killing freely. There are consequences to your actions and the villagers can notice this. Villagers can call a town hall and if they find you suspicious, they might vote you out. Deflect blame, clear yourself, and persuade your friends if you want to survive in this game.

Special Events

Each map has a secret special event tied to it. Depending on which team triggers it, the board will respond accordingly. While hard to trigger and rare, the reward is surely worth it.

Items

Move faster, teleport across the board, protect yourself, sabotage others, and even hold the powers of life and death in your hand. The Haunting has 20+ unique items that are randomized in the shop. Items marked red are stalker only and green are only for the villagers. The more expensive they are, the stronger their abilities. Stalkers pay with villager hearts (self-explanatory) while villagers use the stars they collected (stars collected are already added to objective total and can be spent freely). Both stalkers and villagers start with one of each currency to spend and can pick up more on the floor.

Victory

Villagers collect enough stars for their objective, or stalkers kill the villager team before they can. Either the old-fashioned way or use the town hall to your advantage. There are other ways to win too, which you'll find in game.
