"This is my chessboard. And you don't know the rules."

Stripped of your names, shackled, and cast into the stone abyss beneath Torment Keep, you are not legendary heroes on a glorious quest—you are condemned outcasts fighting for one more breath.

Shadows of the Dungeon is a first-person tactical dungeon crawler that merges the tactile grit of 90s dungeon crawlers with the depth of the 5th Edition tabletop ruleset (SRD 5.2.1 / 5.5e compatible), running in active real time.

DUAL EXPLORATION: RETRO GRID OR FREE 3D

Play the way you remember—or the way you want. Toggle instantly between two distinct movement styles:

• Classic Grid Mode: Step-by-step movement with locked 90-degree turns and tactile tile navigation. Built for methodical mappers, secret hunters, and classic dungeon crawler veterans.

• Modern Free Movement: Fluid first-person 3D movement. Strafe, circle-strafe, inspect stone arches, and check ceiling angles with full camera freedom.

REAL-TIME 5.5e TACTICAL COMBAT

No waiting for turn bars. Tabletop precision meets active subterranean combat:

• Authentic Action Economy: Balance Standard Actions, Bonus Actions, and Reactions on cooldown timers governed by weapon speed and spell recovery.

• The Tabletop Engine in Motion: Attack rolls against Armor Class, saving throws, spell slots, Metamagic, and Wild Shape all execute dynamically in real time.

• Positioning & Line of Sight: Shield your squishy backline casters, flank heavily armored brutes, and use narrow stone doorways as tactical chokepoints.

HANDCRAFTED DUNGEONS & LETHAL TRAPS

Torment Keep is an ancient, multi-tiered labyrinth designed to punish careless steps:

• Physical & Environmental Secrets: Scour walls for hidden iron levers, solve floor rune riddles, and time runs across pressure plates.

• Verticality & Danger: Navigate rickety bridges over bottomless drops, explore murky sewer aqueducts, and beware pit traps hidden beneath false flagstones.

• Positional 3D Audio: Track enemy patrols, clicking insectoid mandibles, and the hiss of pressure plates before you turn the next blind corner.

YOUR EXPEDITION & THE LIVING CAMPFIRE

Your survival depends entirely on the composition and morale of your team:

• Deep Tabletop Character Creation: Assign attributes via Point-Buy across 9 distinct races and 12 classic classes with authentic tabletop traits.

• Roster Management (4 to Start, Up to 6 Active): Begin with a four-hero party, rescue trapped survivors in the deep, and deploy up to 6 active adventurers from your camp roster.

• The Living Campfire: Rest to recover hit points and high-tier spell slots. But beware: pitching camp in the darkness carries the constant risk of wandering monster ambushes.
