Sheep Tag 2 is a free-to-play, team-based, asymmetric, real-time strategy game. Sheep have to survive until the timer hits zero. Wolves have to capture every last Sheep before time runs out.
The RTS You Can Actually Start Playing
You can learn Sheep Tag 2 in a single round. Move, build, survive. The rest you'll pick up by playing.
Start with a single unit. Right-click to move, hotkeys to build. Traditional RTS controls, exactly where RTS players expect them.
Rounds, not campaigns. Matches are short and self-contained. Lose one, start the next, get better.
Learn against bots first. Five scaling AI difficulties mean you can practice without holding a lobby hostage.
The ceiling never stops. Movement physics, farm displacements, gold timing, pack coordination. Veterans of the original are still arguing about optimal play twenty years on.
It's survival, base building, resource management, MOBA-style micro, and genuine teamwork all compressed into one heart-pounding round.
Play as Sheep: Run, Build, Survive
You are small, fast, and completely defenseless. Your only weapons are farms and micro.
Sheep build farms, which are buildings you drop in real time to wall off corridors, seal choke points, and carve the map into something a Wolf can't cross. Build a wall a half-second too late and it's the last thing you do. Master the art of building on yourself to displace your Sheep and create lifesaving distance from the Wolves.
Over 20 farms, each with a real tactical use:
Straw, Stick, and Stone Farms. The backbone. Free to start, stronger as you spend to upgrade.
Tiny, Wide, and Hard Farms. Size is strategy. Plug a one-tile gap or seal an entire lane in a single click.
Savings and Super Savings Farms. Fragile gold generators. Pure greed, pure risk.
Mud Farms. Fight back. Slow a charging Wolf's movement and attack speed.
Aura Farms. Grant nearby Sheep and farms speed, defense, and regeneration.
Sentry Farms. Wide vision that reveals invisible units.
Invisible and Magic Farms. Build what the Wolves can't see. Magic Farms cast spells, cloak allies, and spawn Decoy Sheep.
Illusion Farms. They look solid to a Wolf. Your team walks straight through them.
Play as Wolf: Hunt, Upgrade, Outsmart
Every hunt is a puzzle. Your job is to leave the Sheep with nowhere to run.
Wolves stalk the map, hunting Sheep and tearing down farms with powerful abilities while earning gold to expand their arsenal. Summon Pack Wolves to join the hunt, call down Lunar Strikes to shatter defenses, Phase Shift through walls and farms, lay Snare Traps for unsuspecting Sheep, and invest in potions and upgrades that make every chase deadlier than the last. Coordinate with your pack to cut off escape routes until every path leads straight into your jaws.
The clock is your enemy too. Every second a Sheep survives brings them one step closer to victory.
Spirits: Nobody's Out Until Everybody's Out
Get caught and you don't sit in a spectator screen. You become a Spirit stuck in the pen, and a Spirit can be brought back by any Sheep brave enough to come save you.
That single rule is what makes this a team game instead of a survival game. It turns every capture into a decision. Does someone break away to save you, or does the flock write you off and keep building? Wolves get to guard the Spirit. Sheep get to attempt the rescue. Some of the best moments in Sheep Tag 2 are three Sheep sprinting into a pack of Wolves for one teammate, and it ends as either the greatest save you've ever seen or a total wipeout.
Five Ways to Play
Classic. Sheep survive the clock, Wolves capture them all. The original formula, refined.
Switch. Catch a Sheep as a Wolf and you trade places with it. Sides never stop rearranging, and nobody stays safe or stays hunting for long.
Vamp. Captured Sheep join the hunt. The pack grows every time you lose someone.
VIP. One Sheep is the target. Protect them or lose the round.
Practice. Unlimited time. Drill your builds, learn the map, and push the clock out as far as you need.
Play Online, Play Solo, Play Both
Up to 16 players online. Party with friends, fill the rest of the lobby with strangers, or run a full house.
Scaling AI bots. Five difficulty tiers, and they play both sides, Sheep and Wolf. Warm up alone, backfill an uneven lobby, or set yourself an honest challenge.
Ping wheel and in-game chat. Call a collapse, flag a Wolf, or coordinate a Spirit rescue without ever taking your hand off the build hotkeys.
Build Your Own Battlegrounds
Sheep Tag came out of a map editor, so Sheep Tag 2 ships with one. A full in-game level editor, no external tools, no separate download.
Biomes, not recolors. Sun-scorched canyon, industrial foundry, and crumbling ruin sit alongside the rolling green of pasture, meadow, and glades. Swapping tileset changes how a map reads and how it plays. Lava tiles burn farms, while ice tiles introduce slippery physics.

A Soundtrack Built for the Chase
17 original tracks, fully mastered, written specifically to sit under the gameplay rather than on top of it. The score builds as the round tightens: pastoral and patient while you're farming, teeth-bared by the time the last Sheep is cornered.
Composed by Baelex Metcalf, Lazerwolph, and M Gewehr. Nearly an hour of music, and it's all in the game.
Twenty Years in the Making
Sheep Tag was there before nearly everything you associate with the Warcraft 3 custom map scene. It ran for two decades on one of the most stubbornly competitive communities the mod era ever produced, and at its peak it was rivaled only by DotA.
Sheep Tag 2 is the standalone successor, built as a standalone indie game by someone who spent years on the other side of the screen. It's a decade of work by one of the mod's most competitive players, on a mission to take something they love and turn it into a game anyone can click and play. Every mechanic in here has been argued over, broken, and rebuilt with the help of some of the best Sheep Tag players in the world.
